World Ethnic Dance, Music and Arts Series introduces and promotes traditional and cultural art forms and its practitioners from different parts of the world to the mainstream US audience as well as US academia through lecture demonstrations, workshops, public performances, conferences / panel discussions, exhibitions, awareness campaigns, interviews, documenting via writing, audio and video media. The project also aims at providing an understanding of intangible heritages and the non performing bodies involved in production of these art forms.
World Ethnic Dance, Music and Arts Series is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit arts service organization. Contributions for the charitable purposes of World Ethnic Dance, Music and Arts Series must be made payable to Fractured Atlas only and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

Mohiniyattam by Dr Neena Prasad

Dr Neena Prasad is a leading exponent of Mohiniyattam, a popular classical dance form of India. She has graced the most distinguished stages, performing Mohiniyattam recitals and specially choreographed works across India and abroad. She is a staunch disciplinarian, and has expanded the traditional Mohiniyattam repertoire choreographing many items, venturing into new and contemporary themes while binding firmly to the traditional form and technique.
Dr Neena Prasad was awarded PhD from Rabindra Bharati University, Calcutta, for her thesis on “The Concepts of Lasya and Tandava in the Classical Dances of South India – A Detailed Study”. She was also awarded a post doctoral research fellowship from the AHRB Research Centre for Cross Cultural Music and Dance Performance, University of Surrey.
